Sizes and Styles

Available in three sizes, with each size offered in four styles:

• Simple back-of-panel mounting
• Back-of-panel mounting with accompanying bezel
• Front-of-panel mounting with lower mask
• Front-of-panel mounting with full bezel

Construction

• Transparent acrylic front
• High-impact translucent rear body moulding
• Black ABS moulded masks and bezels
• Rugged design suitable for demanding audio environments
• Suitable for console, rack, portable, and fixed installations

Movement

• Taut band centre magnet movement fitted as standard
• 26 mm diameter barrel
• Rugged movement for reliable operation
• No calibration change when mounted on a ferrous panel
• Suitable for portable or fixed equipment

Electrical Specification

• Low-range AC voltmeter
• Designed for use across a 600 ohm line
• Requires external 3.6k ohm resistor
• Calibrated for use with a 3.6k ohm resistor
• Reference deflection of 0 VU produced by a signal 4 VU above 1 mW in 600 ohms
• Reference voltage: 1.228 V
• Response close to that of a full-specification VU meter
• Typical overswing variation between 0% and 5%
• Damping is not individually adjusted on each AL meter, but controlled within normal process parameters

Scale and Dial

• Tube pointer for clear indication
• Flattened arc scale for improved readability
• Translucent buff-coloured dial as standard
• White dial available as an option
• Standard scale based on the VU “A” scale
• VU “B” scale also available
• Designed for easy reading when multiple meters are mounted in a row

Zero Adjustment

• Zero adjuster normally positioned on the front for surface-mounted styles:
  M type
  B type
• Zero adjuster normally positioned on the rear for behind-panel styles:
  W type
  WF type
• Alternative zero adjuster positions available on request

Operating Temperature

• Operating temperature range: -25°C to +55°C

Illumination Options

Comprehensive illumination options are available, including:

• Overhead illumination
  Available for W and WF styles
  Uses 6 mm festoon-style lamp
• Light box illumination
  Available for all styles in types 29 and 39
  Uses either festoon lamps or T1¾ flanged lamps
• LED illumination
  Internal LED illumination available
